Today began like so many others.
While getting ready this morning, we were moving at a snail’s pace.
Because for the last couple of months, we’ve been experiencing a sleeping drought.
In fact, the other night we were up till after 1:00 a.m.
But unlike the Instagram parents who look well-rested, we regularly have to function on less than 5 hours of sleep.
And this, even though we sleep trained our toddler.
So it takes copious amounts of coffee to get through the workday.
In fact, sometimes so much so that others might comment:
“Wow, you drink a ton of coffee!”
Anyway, surviving the workday on very little sleep is exhausting.
It’s twice as hard to focus on routine tasks.
And when that happens?
Drinking an entire pot of coffee becomes a breeze.
And in our opinion?
That’s how you know you’re a real coffee addict.
You know, the type of person who might consider a Panera bread coffee subscription, but they’d rather get their drug of choice at home.
When that happens, coffee drinking makes you feel like you have superpowers.
With your new-found superpowers, you can push through and make it through the day.
And even though these sleepless days are fewer than when we had a newborn, until we’ve got our coffee in our systems, getting through the day feels like an immense challenge.
Because when you’re a working parent with young kids, with no support from grandparents nearby, some days you gotta push through – no matter how you feel about it.
And while it’s challenging trying to do this alone…
