Colic is so tough. If you’re dealing with a colicky baby right now, we feel your pain.

It’s known to bring down even the strongest of parents!

If only there was either a way to make it stop!

Manging colic with a baby is like being tied to a treadmill you can’t get down off of.

You have to prepare yourself for…

  • The endless crying.
  • The lack of sleep.
  • And that feeling it’s never gonna end.

Either you (or your spouse) might be asking yourselves:

In this post, we dive into several tips to help prevent colic.

Now, there’s no guarantee you will. And, there’s no magical solution.

But even if you end up having to deal with it, these tips can also help you manage it.

Each kid is different, and this info is based on our experiences, so definitely talk to a medical professional about any specific recommendations.

Ok, with that said, let’s dive in!

These Tips Will Help You

When you first start dealing with colic, you immediately want to find ways to either make it stop, or make it less severe.

When you’re listening to constant colic crying, you might start to question your sanity.

Plus, colic usually shows up right after the initial phase of having a newborn baby, but before you’ve gotten into the swing of being a parent.

So, right around the 6-8 week mark.  Or, at least that’s when it did for us.

And as soon as it shows up?

It feels like it takes over your life! And it can FEEL impossible to get a handle on. It feels like it’s going to last FOREVER.

But there’s good news… It won’t. You WILL get through it.

Until then, if you’re looking for encouragement, here are a few ideas to help.

Bounce On A Yoga Ball

People swear by this.

Will it solve all your problems?

Probably not.

But it might help both you and your baby. You, because it’ll be a bit of exercise and something you can do for short stretches. 

And your baby?

Might even help more than a little.

Plus, it’ll at least get YOU thinking about yoga and getting back into meditative activities…

So that you can stay calm. Because when you’re dealing with colic, you’ve gotta keep your frustration in check.

Speaking of calm, you may want to try this:

Do Some Walking Meditation

Everybody says to keep the baby upright.

And that’s good.

But what are you going to do?

Do you have to sit around the house all evening?

Wishing for the baby to magically stop crying?


You don’t have to.

It’s better if you MOVE around too.

So put some classical music on.

Or whatever music you prefer.

Hold that screaming baby.

Take some breaths. Some DEEP breaths.

Focus on the feelings of love.

And take a walk around your house.

Breathing in, and breathing out while you do it.

And repeat this mantra:

Breathing in, I know that I am breathing in.

Breathing out, I know that I am breathing out.

Now that you’ve tried it, I want you to focus on this:

Know This: The Nightmare WILL End

It might not be tonight. Or tomorrow.

It might take a few weeks.

I know.

That’s not what you want to hear. It’s really tough.

But you’ll get through this. We all do.

It’s not going to last forever.

So when it gets really tough. And the meditation starts to wear off, remember:

Everything passes with time. 

And so too shall this!

I know.

You might feel desperate at times.

It’s common.

You’re not alone.

I know, that might not fix the problem right now.
