Looking for a Nuna DEMI Grow Stroller?
We discovered this stroller when we were expecting our second child…
Until then, it was just the two of us. But now there would be four. So we knew big changes were in order and we wanted a stroller that would last.
Now, for a lot of baby gear, this meant updating what we already had.
But there here was one BIG buying decision we had to make…
What Kind Of Stroller Do You Get For Two Kids?
It’s no secret you’ll need a bigger stroller. Or at least something that seats two.
In our case…
We had the single Nuna Pippa Max stroller for our first child (and loved it).
But it was a single-seater and that wasn’t going to work anymore.
After a ton of research, we picked the Nuna Demi Grow.
It was the best match for what we needed! After owning it now for almost
two six years, we felt that a lot of the reviews out there miss some of the great things about this stroller.
So in this review, we dive into:
- Why it’s awesome for young kids
- Who it’s for/not for
- The pros and cons
- Features you’ll want to know about
- Things we love about our Nuna Demi Grow stroller
- And things we wish we’d known before we’d bought ours
Let’s get started!
The Nuna DEMI Grow Stroller
If you’re already excited enough to check one out and start shopping, go here to check out the Nuna Demi Grow stroller. If not, keep reading.
After a detailed search, we invested in the Nuna DEMI Grow Stroller.
The Nuna DEMI Grow is a sleek, sturdy two-child stroller for growing families.
It’s an excellent ride for two kids. And you won’t have to buy a bunch of add-on accessories.
To start, let’s talk about some of the functionality:
This stroller glides like a breeze…
It’s sturdy, solid design, and is built with high-quality materials.
For example, the upper section holds either a car seat or the regular seat. After almost six years of owning this stroller, using it with one kid and now two, it’s been great to be able to switch up who is riding on the top vs. bottom depending on the outing, time of day, their moods, and so on.
Why It’s Awesome For Young Kids
As of right now, both of our kids are under 6.
And we find this is a fantastic stroller for young kids. And, since we’ve owned it now for several years, it’s been adaptable to our needs as they’ve changed over time.
The youngest can ride comfortably on top, and the eldest (5 years old) loves to be able to climb in and out of the bottom seat.
If you’re using a Nuna car seat, you can pop it in and out of the car seat attachment, which is incredible.
This means, for example, you can have a Nuna Pipa car seat in your car, pop it out, and put it straight into the stroller.
What’s more, the Nuna Demi Grow stroller has different holders compatible with different car seats.
Now, the lower level has a seat for your older child, and you do have to buy that separately. But in our experience, it’s been worth the investment.
The ability to comfortably push two kids was also an awesome benefit when we had an au pair. When the weather was nice, she would take them on a walk to the park every day.
There’s also some design features that make the Nuna Demi Grow different from its competitors:
In this picture, you can see the Nuna Demi Grow stroller with a two-seat configuration.
You can flip each of these around to have them face whichever direction you want.
This is helpful depending on your outing, your kid’s mood, and other random things like the weather, wind, or if they’re napping or simply want to face forward.
Who’s The Nuna DEMI Grow Stroller Is For, And Who It’s Not For
This stroller is perfect if you’re:
- Often on the go
- Want a stylish yet comfortable ride
- A quality stroller that’ll last a few years
- Don’t live in a big city
- Don’t have stairs at home to climb
- Plan to use it mostly on sidewalks and concrete
- Won’t be lifting it in and out of your car every day
It’s a great stroller if you live in a city or the suburbs. Over the six years of owning this stroller, we’ve lived in two different states, in the city of Chicago, and the suburbs. The Nuna Demi Grow has been incredible for all these different environments.
If you live somewhere with very rough terrain, the Nuna Demi Grow might not be the best option.
And, if you’ve only got one kid, you might not find this stroller as helpful. It’s really for parents with an infant or baby plus an older child.
We’d say it’s for a more urban or suburban family, but if you do only have one kid it’s easier to navigate.
It’ll get you from the car to the Starbucks across the street with no problems…
But it’s not going to be great if you need a stroller for rugged conditions or rough terrain.
In our opinion? If you want a stroller that you can run, jog or work out with, you’ll want something in addition to this stroller. For us, the Nuna Demi Grow stroller is much better for walking than jogging.
What the Stroller Can Do, And Can’t
It’s pretty amazing what this stroller can do.
It’s no simple task to balance two children. But this stroller manages to do it with no awkwardness or headaches.
For example, check out the elegant design of this support:
It’ll comfortably offer a ride for your older child while balancing your other child in the top seat.
The wheels pop off if you need to fit it in a tight space.
So if you’ve got little trunk space or need extra room for a long trip, don’t worry about the wheels taking up space.
With that said, this isn’t a low price point. It’s a serious buying decision.
Think of it as an investment.
And while it’s a high-quality stroller, the higher price point doesn’t mean it’s going to do all sorts of wonderful things for you, like make lattes or cook dinner.
The Nuna DEMI Grow Stroller PROs
There are so many awesome things with the Nuna strollers it’s hard to know where to start!
The PROs of the Nuna Demi Grow Stroller Include:
First, it feels premium!
The high-quality style of the materials feels good in your hands.
And the mesh-style fabric of the seating feels very comfortable to touch.
Another awesome feature of the Nuna brand of strollers and car seats is that you can pop the car seat in and out of the holder for it.
Its inline design (vs a more sequential layout) makes it seem like it glides easier.
And this is the main reason we went with this stroller over a competitor from Uppababy.
A comparable stroller, the Uppa Baby, stroller sticks out more, looks long and isn’t balanced on the center of gravity.
But the Nuna DEMI Grow is more sleekly aligned for a smoother glide and is easier to push.
In short, these pros mean that using this stroller is easy to maneuver, gives you options for ways for the kids to ride, and isn’t a pain to haul around.
Over time, these features will reduce your stress levels and save you time. (P.S. If you’re looking for more ideas to reduce your stress, check out these tips).
Now that we’ve covered the pros, let’s talk about some of the cons:
Some CONs of the Nuna DEMI Grow Stroller
While this stroller has a lot of pros, it’s got a few downsides that are worth knowing about.
The car seat shade magnets aren’t super strong.
And this is a two-child stroller, so it’s not super compact.
We drive an older mid-sized SUV, (A CR-V to be exact), and the folded-up Nuna Demi Grow takes up a good amount of space in the back.
In general, while the Nuna DEMI Grow is sturdier than other brands that also means it takes up more space in either your car trunk or the back of your SUV.
One early downside we had to figure out was unlatching the lower seat bar.
Our son is 2.5 so we didn’t want it in his way. And we haven’t bought any accessories so we didn’t need them.
We got it unhooked from one side but when we went to futz with the other side it seemed to be stuck.
Everything else seemed to click and unlock in a hurry.
After futzing around with it we got it to work (by pushing in the sides), but it wasn’t intuitive and you have to push fairly hard.

And with that said that brings us to our conclusion.
Conclusion: We Recommend It!
So, do we think the Nuna Demi Grow is a fabulous stroller?
We love it. And as of this update (December 2022), we’ve owned it for almost six years. We still use it regularly, it fits our growing kids, has held up over the years, and was well worth the initial sticker price.
We started with the Nuna Max stroller when we just had one child, and graduated to the Nuna Demi Grow as our family grew.
With its sleek balanced design and sturdy yet beautiful design, this stroller will leave you feeling excited to get out of the house, even if it’s just to run errands!
Where Can You Buy One?
If you’re excited to check one out and start shopping, you can head over to PishPosh baby to check it out.
Hi! How you do it when you want to go to the park with your kids? Do you bring a balloon with? stuffs? a backpack? does they fit?
Hi Kathy! Thanks for stopping by our blog! We usually just stuff what we need in the bottom compartment and that works. Sometimes we have to streamline what we bring, but it’s usually enough space still.
Hi, Thank you for the great review.
One question: How good are its terrain capabilities? Will it be a smooth ride for the baby while walking in a forest or a rough walkway?
Hi! Thanks for the feedback! Glad you found it helpful. It’s more of an urban/suburban stroller. Works well on sidewalks. We would not say it’s great for offroading. Perhaps ok on grass, but not on anything super bumpy.
