Although I love buying new outfits at full price for our growing toddler, I’ve realized over time that it’s not always practical.

Sometimes, you gotta buy stuff at a discount, especially if you want a trendier brand.

You see…

I learned this early after our son was born.

We had bought regular-sized newborn clothes, but he was small and needed premie-sized onesies.

So we had to dart out and get some new outfits.

This was easy because at that age clothes are fairly cheap.

But it gets trickier as they get older.

The clothes get more expensive as they get older.

Which can add up:

One article I read said that the average American spends $1800 on clothes a year.

Now I don’t know about you but that’s a lot of money for me!!

Imagine how much money you can end up spending in the first three or four years of your child’s life alone if you’re not more mindful…

But the good news is there are plenty of other options out there (besides buying brand new clothes).

You only need to know where to look.

Luckily, we’ve had to come up with a few of our own ideas to solve this problem for ourselves.

Keep reading below for these ideas…

Save More Green Stuff With This Gold Standard Your Mom Used

Before you groan about becoming the type of person who does what their mom used to do, hear me out…

Because this store was universally loved by moms everywhere in the 80s and 90s…

Unfortunately, I think a lotta people have a bias against shopping at this store.

Here’s why:

When I was a kid, my mom would drag us to this store all the time. I’d go along, sometimes even picking out one or two things I liked.

But I never loved those trips.

…I think mainly because I was forced to go.

So when I started looking for places where I could find deals, this store didn’t exactly pop into my head.

But that changed one day when a special gift arrived in the mail:

I got a coupon big coupon flier promoting a significant discount from Kohls.

And I thought to myself: “Wow! that’s a good deal. Maybe Mom was on to something…”

Suddenly, it all made sense.

Because Kohl’s cash is where it’s at.

You can *usually* spend it on just about anything.

Now, there are usually only certain dates that it’s valid for.

You have to not forget about those dates.

(I have several times).

Anyways…

Once I started paying attention I realized why Mom had always dragged us there.

You can find some great deals.

And while it may not be a luxury brand or anything like that, a lot of the brands they do carry are stylish.

So don’t be a hater! And push through your fear of becoming your mom, and go check it out next time you get one of their fliers.

Now, while you won’t get a coupon flier from this next site, the discounts you can find there can be even better than Kohls…

Find Some Deals In The Website People Forget

Now, you might not think that the site I’m going to talk about next is a great place to find some deals, but I’ve had great success with it.

But there are a few things you should know to be able to find the best deals.

Not using these insights I think is part of the reason people don’t like to use the website.

Because they don’t know how to find the golden needle in the haystack of stuff that you find on Craigslist.

So I’m going to share with you my approach.

So you can find the hidden gems like I’ve been able to.

The first step is:

You need to be strategic with your geographic searches.

If you think only within your city, then you might be limiting yourself unnecessarily.

You need to cast a wider net.

And then, if there’s an overwhelming number of items for the category you are looking for, you can narrow down your searches.

The other insight with Craigslist is:

Look in the free section.

Now, of course, there’s a lot of junk that gets tossed around in the free section.

But if you make it a habit to look often and frequently, you can find some great stuff.

For FREE!

And, even if you don’t find some clothes for your toddler, you might find something free that you could resell and make some easy money!

Then, you could use that to buy some clothes for your little one.

It’s basically a way to generate free money.

Who doesn’t like free money?

Speaking of free money, your neighbors might be stashing free money away just waiting to give it you if you know how to ask.

Sound interesting?

Let me explain…

Hit Up Your Neighbors For Steals With This Simple Strategy

This can be a great way to find better quality clothes at reasonably cheap prices.

And, in my experience, the stuff feels fine will be less run down or less used.

Now, this does require that your neighborhood have a listserve.

If that if they don’t, there’s a couple of ways we can approach this.

You could organize your own and set one up.

Or if you don’t want to mess with that you could make a list of cities in your area that have people that want to get rid of clothes for young kids, and then see if they have the list, and then just get on them.

Personally, I think that’s the easier route to go.

That’s what I would do if my neighborhood doesn’t have a listserv.

Another benefit of finding deals this way is that it’s a more passive way of looking for good offers.

Usually, these types of lists let you have a daily digest so that you don’t have to keep searching as you do on craigslist.

Jump Off Your News Feed On This Social Media And Use This Hidden Tool

Ok, the next idea that we have for finding awesome toddler clothes is through Facebook marketplace.

If you’re anything like me, you didn’t realize its full potential.

At least I didn’t until recently.

But once I started using it I realized why it was so great.

I’ve found many great deals on clothes for really good prices.

One reason I think it’s so great is that the type of people who sell things on Facebook marketplace tend to be fancier things than what I see on Craigslist.

So don’t rule this out.

After you’ve combed through Craigslist head over to Facebook and see what you can find!

One more thing I love about it is…

you can do a more refined search by geography geographic region so you can find deals that are not too far from your house.

Plus, you can see who is selling something, and to me, that adds a layer of credibility to the purchasing process that you don’t get with Craigslist.

Now, while Facebook and Craigslist can help you find great deals in your geographic area, you’ll want to check out this next one for an even bigger selection.

Buy In Bulk On This Site

You might kind of be thinking (like I used to)…”eBay can be such a hassle.”

After all, when you first start using it to search for clothes, the volume alone can be overwhelming.

Plus, there are so many different types of people who are selling on there.

There’s individual selling their own stuff, marketplaces that sell bulk goods, and big-name brands that have stores.

So that’s why I want to share with you a few ways that I found to filter results when searching for toddler clothes.

Because once I started doing that while strategically shopping, I realized the whole experience was much less overwhelming.

And:

This helps me weed out the chair and get some really great deals.

Let’s dive in:

There are three different filters I like to use:

  • Keyword “toddler” (or whatever word for your kid so you pull up relevant results)
  • Sorting by Price
  • The end date of sale

If you apply these filters, then you can find some of the best deals out there.

And in my experience, the selection will be very manageable to look through.

You’ll also be able to find stuff with sales ending soon.

That way you can seal the deal and get the clothes faster.

One more advantage of this is:

You can also see how many bidders there are.

If there are a lot, you don’t have to waste your time on something you’ll just lose out on anyway.

You can be strategic and bid on things that only have a few people watching it.

That way will increase your chances of getting a lot that’s good.

Plus…

You’ll avoid not getting outbid at the very last minute.

For me, that’s one of the most frustrating things that can happen.

Two more things I love about this site:

You can find name-brand clothes that are hardly worn for a practical steal.

You can find bulk sets of clothes (say for a toddler) for sale because somebody wants to get rid of the whole lot.

I don’t know about you but I haven’t found such a combination anywhere else!

Now while this next idea is a place to find new clothes, the brightness and vibrancy of the colors alone will make you want to check it out (and we have a coupon code link at the bottom of this post!)

Find Bright And Beautiful Solid Color Outfits With This Online Only Store

This last tip is one that you might not have heard of.

And there’s a bunch of reasons why I love this source because I don’t hear a lot of parents talking about it.

You see…

It’s one I just happened to stumble upon about a year ago and quickly fell in love with.

But it took me a while to finally realize why I like it so much.

And after thinking about it I realized what it is…. so many baby and toddler clothes you find at the typical big box stores I find have a couple of downsides:

One is that they’ll have all sorts of silly phrases or sayings.

Now, sometimes that’s cute.

And I think that’s the idea.

But I like it when my son doesn’t wear shirts with wild and zany colors and silly made-up phrases every day.

Because when I see those, I often think to myself “commercial”

And if it’s a branded shirt it makes me feel like I’m turning him into a walking advertisement for that brand.

What’s more:

I don’t super love to stock his wardrobe only with those generic outfits is it feels so…

Bland.

That’s why when I discovered this website I quickly fell in love.

Their whole approach was the opposite of these things.

Looking at their clothes it felt:

Bright.

Fresh.

Happy!

… and more.

Two more things I love about it are:

the clothes and shirts don’t come with logos or branding on them.

And, they come in a wide variety of colors based on the full rainbow.

You can even shop by color!

I don’t know about you, but I haven’t seen such a beautiful selection of solid and bright clothes with the range of the rainbow really offered anywhere else!

Plus…

Since it’s an online company that sends direct to consumers, you can get top-notch beautiful outfits for a decent price compared to what you’d pay for something similar at a bigger brand name store.
